Supplement Label Mistakes That Hurt Sales & How to Fix Them

The short answer

Compare the product name, ingredients, amounts, serving, warnings, storage and mandatory data with the formulation, specification and analyses. Review every verbal and visual claim in context, and do not use a treatment or health claim simply because a competitor does.

Three actions to take

  • Reconcile every per-serving quantity with the analysis and formula.
  • Review Arabic and English as complete versions.
  • Freeze the print version and connect it to the purchase order.

1. Conflicting core data

Serving weight, capsule count or ingredient order can differ across the front, table and specification. Give the designer one controlled data source.

  • Match name, net quantity, serving and ingredients across panels.
  • Check manufacturer, importer and country-of-origin data.

2. Claims and warnings

Words, images and icons can communicate a claim without a direct sentence. Evaluate the complete message against the product, evidence and current requirements.

  • Keep a claim log with wording, evidence and decision.
  • Check warning visibility, placement and size.

3. Control the print version

After approval, prevent designers and factories from using an earlier file. Review the pre-press proof and a sample on the actual container.

  • Put a version number and date on the working file.
  • Test barcode, legibility and print on the real pack.
